Introduction

What is Modikit Vault

Vault is a developer-first OAuth2 provider platform with a similar philosophy to Keycloak, with some quality of life improvements.

Building authentication into every service is repetitive and risky: password storage, session management, token security, and GDPR obligations, each reinvented per app. Vault centralizes identity so your services stay focused on their actual job.

Like Keycloak, Vault gives you realms, users, and single sign-on across all your registered applications — managed through a clean admin dashboard. Unlike Keycloak, Vault is deliberately lean: a protocol-first API and a focused dashboard. That’s it.

Highlights

  • Realm-based SSO — one login pair per user, valid across every
    app registered to the realm
  • Admin dashboard — manage realms, users, clients, and
    availabilities visually
  • Availabilities — logical trust zones that scope token validity
  • Local token verification — services verify JWTs with public
keys fetched via REST; no per-request round-trip to Vault
  • First-class data hygiene — user purge APIs and a queryable
    purge collection for GDPR compliance
  • Backend-only by design — credentials never reach the browser
